The webinar focused on the historical significance of <em>Hicky\u2019s Bengal Gazette<\/em>, its contribution to the development of Indian journalism, and the continuing relevance of press freedom. The session aimed to familiarise students with the history of the publication, examine James Augustus Hicky\u2019s experiences in the struggle for freedom of expression, and help them understand the importance of journalistic independence in the contemporary media landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The webinar featured an expert-led discussion on the historical context of <em>Hicky\u2019s Bengal Gazette<\/em>, censorship, freedom of expression, and the challenges faced by journalists in the past and present. Students actively participated through questions and discussions, connecting the historical struggle for press freedom with contemporary journalism.
