Awareness Camp and Plenary Session on: “Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013” Law Gender Sensitization Cell Internal Complain Committeem & DLSA 11.09.2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The awareness camp and plenary session on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013<\/em> was organised on 11 September 2025 from 3:00 PM onwards at UB-VI, Room No. 207, with the objective of sensitising students and faculty members about the provisions and significance of the POSH Act, 2013. The programme focused on preventive and redressal mechanisms under the Act, the roles of the judiciary, law enforcement agencies, and legal services, and the importance of gender sensitisation in creating safe and respectful workplaces. It also encouraged students to understand their responsibilities as future legal professionals in promoting justice, equality, and safe workplace environments. The session featured distinguished speakers including Sri Santanu Jha, District & Sessions Judge and Chairperson, DLSA, North 24 Parganas; Ms. Pratiksha Jharkharyia, IPS, SP, Barasat Police District; Smt. Prajna Gargi Bhattacharya, Additional District & Sessions Judge, 7th Court, North 24 Parganas; Smt. Sparsha Nilangi, IPS, Additional SP, Barasat Police; Sri Md. Nurjamman Khan, Secretary, DLSA, North 24 Parganas; and Sri Vikram Banerjee, Civil Judge, Junior Division, Barasat District Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deliberations provided participants with practical insights into workplace harassment, complaint mechanisms, legal safeguards, and the application of the POSH Act in real-life situations. Students actively participated in the discussions and gained a better understanding of the legal and institutional mechanisms available for addressing workplace harassment. The programme successfully enhanced awareness of the rights, responsibilities, and safeguards associated with the Act while fostering greater gender sensitivity among the participants. Overall, the session contributed to preparing students to promote justice, equality, dignity, and safe workplace environments in their future professional roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
