Freshers’ Welcome 2K19

“There are no strangers here; only friends you haven't yet met.”


Singing, dancing, celebration and festivities were the order of the day as Brainware University welcomed its newest batch of students at the Freshers’ Welcome 2019 at Rabindra Bhavan, Barasat on the 30th of October, 2019. An event that helps the bonds grow stronger and friends become family, the students ushered the day in high spirits.


Through various entertaining and artistic performances the senior students ushered their juniors into the fold. Cheering, dancing and selfie flashlights were the order of the day as the newcomers in their colourful attires and beaming smiles enjoyed to the fullest. And as they left the auditorium at the end of the day, their weary feet and coarse voice stood testament to the wonderful time that they had had. We all at the University welcome them with open arms and wish them the very best for their journey.

Highlight of the Month


Swachchata Hi Seva

NSS Committee of Brainware University organized an environmental awareness programme titled “Swachchata Hi Seva” on September 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. A vibrant rally was conducted with students upholding the colourful placards and banners containing the slogans based on the aforementioned themes. Student volunteers were involved in “Shramdaan” by picking up plastic wastes on the course of the rally.

Teachers’ Day Celebration

“A teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination and increase the love for learning.”

The students of Brainware University celebrated Teachers Day with enormous zeal and enthusiasm on the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on September 5, 2019. The celebration consists of various performances by students from multiple departments. The event started with the lightning of lamp by the Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Subrata Kumar Dey and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr. Subhasish Banerjee.

Coffee with a Celebrity

The Communication Club of Brainware University gave a golden opportunity to its students to play a celeb and hog all the limelight in a role-play activity, “Coffee with a Celebrity”, organized on the 27th of September, 2019. Students from all the departments of the university registered for this role-play activity in pairs, where one had to play the part of a celebrity and the other played the interviewer. The event proved to be an amazing experience for the students who played the part of various celebrities, right from Shri. Narendra Modi to Virat Kohli with great enthusiasm. The winners of this event were Sudeshna Bhattacharjee and Sayantan Choudhury.

Celebration of Bibhuti Bhushan Bandyopadhyay’s 125th Birth Anniversary

On the occasion of Bibhuti Bhushan Bandopadhyay’s 125th Birth Anniversary, the Department of English and Literary Studies, Brainware University, paid their homage to Bengal’s crown jewel by organizing a Short Story Telling Competition on the 12th of September, 2019, at its Barasat campus. Based on still clips from the Maestro’s film adaptations the event saw a wide range of popular participation from the students who let their imaginations run wild as they harnessed their innovation and creativity in a bid to conjure up stories from those clips.

Essay Competition on Vidyasagar’s Birth Anniversary

On occasion of the birth anniversary of one of Bengal’s pioneering figures in art and literature, Abanindranath Tagore, the departments of Multimedia and English and Literary Studies, Brainware University, jointly organized a Cartoon Drawing competition on the 7th of August, 2019, at the Barasat campus. The participants through their creativity, innovation and imagination paid homage to the Master as they conjured up numerous awe inspiring caricatures pertaining to various social causes and activities.

Quiz Competition

To commemorate the 124th birth anniversary of the National Teacher of India, Vinoba Bhave the Department of Basic and Applied Sciences, Brainware University organised a Quiz Competition for the students on September 11, 2019,. Acharya Vinoba Bhave was an Indian advocate whose untiring contribution towards India's freedom struggle is unforgettable. Students showed great enthusiasm and competence as the winners battled their way to the top.

A Session at National Lok Adalat

Industry Visits have been an integral part of the curriculum of the professional courses being taught at Brainware University. And when it comes to a sensitive subject such as “Law”, keeping the students updated with the present-day professional practices is of vital importance. In view of the same - On 14th September 2019 all the students of the Department of Law and the faculty members, attended a session at National Lok Adalat, organized by District Legal Services Authority, North 24 Parganas.

A Seminar on Intellectual Property Rights

Brainware University organized a Seminar on Intellectual Property Rights on September 26, 2019. It was presented by Dr. Mahuya Homchoudhury, Senior Scientist and Nodal Officer, Patent Information Centre, Department of Higher Education, Science and Technology and Biotechnology. Dr. Homchoudhury has completed her Ph.D. from the Department of Food Technology & Biochemical Engg from Jadavpur University, India from where she received her B. Tech degree in 1999. She talked about issues related to IPR and Patent Law. She also explained the process of copyrighting a product, trademark registration and GI concepts.

Major General Manik Sabharwal visited the Campus of Brainware University

On September 19, 2019 Retired Major General Manik Sabharwal, CEO of Domestic Workers Sector Skill Council, visited the Centre of Excellence in Skill Training at the Brainware University Campus. With a target of skilling over 25 Lakh domestic workers across 500 training centres and a few chosen Universities like Symbiosis, KIT ,Brainware , Major General Sabharwal, has more milestones to meet. He spoke to our students, examined all the labs and Incubation centres, and went through the blue print of our future plan. He is a firm believer of ‘Upgrading to international Standards’, for increasing the scope of the courses. A long interaction later, he congratulated our team members for the excellent job that they were doing and said that he is yet to visit a facility that is better equipped than Brainware.

"Food for Thought"

Mr. Shaikat Das, the Founder & Chief Nutrition Counselor of Mettle Fitness Studio, visited the campus of Brainware University to conduct an interactive, fun yet educational seminar with the students & members of the Brainware fraternity to observe World Nutrition Week (September 1 - September 7). Among the many facets of health, Mr. Das discussed the "myths & truths" of daily nutrition . The students & other members of the fraternity were equally enthusiastic & involved.

"Future Focus"

Department of Allied Health Science, has organized a Future Focus program for our B.Sc MLT and B.Sc MRIT aspirants at Brainware University. The key speaker of this seminar was Dr. Premanshu Das, MD, R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital, Kolkata. He enlightened our students with his speech and sensitized our students regarding the program curriculum, the ethical issues and future job prospects.

“Scope of start-up projects through MSME”

he Institute Innovation Cell of Brainware University is 150 members strong. The IIC helps foster Innovative ideas among the student-council - helping them cultivate newer projects & intellectual properties.
This September 13, 2019, a seminar on “"Scope of start-up projects through MSME” was conducted by the University for these entrepreneurial enthusiasts. The seminar was graced by the presence of Joint Secretary of Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of West Bengal, Dr. Mou Sen.

“My Story-Motivational Speak”

Brainware University has started a seminar-series called "My Story-Motivational Speak" from the month of September. The objective of these entrepreneurial talks, is to kindle the scientific temper around innovation, and moulding minds as units of viable independent career models. As a part of this series, Mr. Sayan Chakroborty, Director/ Founder, WTF! (Where's the food!) was invited to share his experience as an entrepreneur. The seminar ended on a note of clarity of thought and direction, innovation and futuristic thinking. Many myths surrounding the ‘food business’ jargon were resolved. The seminar succeeded in bringing together queries & experience under one roof.

“The Role of Communication in Problem-Solving”

On 21 September 2019, the IIC organized a one-day workshop on "The role of communication in problem-solving". The seminar was conducted by Mr. Ambar Singh Roy, Head Corporate Affairs &Communication, Tata Steels, West Bengal. Mr. Singh Roy said that problem-solving in modern organizations is a team sport. Success comes from cooperation collaboration, decisiveness and coordinated action. Communications is the glue that binds the team together and enables them to work as a unit.

“Importance and Scope of B.Sc. Physician Assistant in Health Care Industry”

The Department of Allied Health Sciences of Brainware University has organized a seminar on “Importance and Scope of B.Sc. Physician Assistant in Health Care Industry”. Resource person of this seminar was Mr. Tanmoy Kandar, Sr. Physici Assist, AMRI Hospital, Kolkata. He sensitized our students regarding the program structure as well as the basic responsibilities of physician assistant as health care professional.
