Cover Story


A Workshop on Desk Exercise

A Workshop on Desk Exercise techniques was conducted by Allied Health Sciences on March 19, 2022 for all the faculties. Reputed sports physiotherapist and assistant professor at the department of Allied Health Sciences, Mohammed Ziauddin was the facilitator for the event. Before his present job, he has worked as Sports Physiotherapist for Round Glass Punjab FC, Mohali, Academy & was the first team Physiotherapist since September 2018. The workshop was truly innovative, it wasn’t only conducted theoretically but practically too. The session was very beneficial for the employees working all day for long hours on desk, which was quite stressful, aches and exhaustible, hence, the practical session was very relieving for the staff members.We hope to conduct such sessions for the better health of all the Brainware family members.

Internal Hackathon for SIH 2022

To promote innovative thinking and problem solving skills in students Brainware University organized an Internal Hackathon for SIH competition on March 17,2022 by the joint collaboration of Brainware University Tech Club and Institution’s Innovation Council under the guidance of MoE’s Innovation Cell, Government of India. Often the youth’s brilliance goes unnoticed even when they have innovative ideas to solve some of the most complex problems.This event was to provide a proper platform for students to showcase their ideas and receive feedback from the experts. Students from different departments participated in teams and presented their solutions to the list of problem statements provided for SIH(Smart India Hackathon).


One-Day Celebration for World Optometry Day

The Department of Allied Health Sciences celebrated World Optometry Day on March 23, 2022 through a seminar to spread awareness about this Noble profession. Five eminent professionals from the field of Optometrist and Ophthalmologist were present at the seminar as guest speakers.They shared their knowledge on different clinical and job-market developments in the field of Optometry Practice. A Q & A session was conducted after every power point presentation of speakers, to make the session more fruitful. Students also presented scientific posters to create awareness about vision health.


Workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights in Cyberspace”

The Department of Law, Brainware University organised a Workshop on “Social justice to curb discrimination” on March 5, 2022. The Workshop was organised to celebrate ‘World Day of Social Justice’ and ‘Zero Discrimination Day’, to inspire students to contribute towards a more just society. Mrs. Reshmi Rea Sinha(Advocate-on-Record,Supreme Court of India) and Mr. Jayanta Narain Chattopadhyay were the guest speakers for the event. In her speech, Mrs. Reshmi Rea Sinha described the importance and significance of ‘World Day of Social Justice’ and ‘Zero Discrimination Day’..Mr. Jayanta Narain Chattopadhyay shared true stories on the basis of his experience to demonstrate how lawyers can become a force for change. The programme ended with a Q&A session where the students got a chance to ask legal questions to the experienced professionals and be guided in their career journey. Together all of us pledged to always strive to do good and end discrimination.


Workshop on Recognizing Diversity in Gender and Sexuality

The Gender Sensitization Cell of Brainware University organized a workshop titled “Recognizing Diversity in Gender and Sexuality” on 15 March, 2022. The main purpose of this programme was to make people aware about the changing attitudes towards sexual minorities held by society at large predicated by large-scale political and cultural changes. The guest speaker Dr. Pratulananda Das(Professor, Department of Mathematics, Jadavpur University) delivered his speech on the aforementioned theme under the title "Making Educational Spaces More Inclusive for LGBTQ People." The speaker shared his own personal experience and how he navigated through the bias and prejudice of other people in society, not only his personal life but also in the professional sphere.The talk was followed by a lively Q&A session in which the audience members were keen to get an insight into matters concerning non-heterosexual sexualities.


Highlight of the Msonth


Workshop on 'Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow'

The Department of Law, Brainware University organized a Workshop on 'Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow', on the theme of ‘International Women’s Day’ on March 12, 2022 at 11.30 am. The Workshop was organized to celebrate ‘International Women’s Day’ and provide information about equitable legal resources for women. After the initial inaugural ceremony, Indrani Sengupta explained to the students the harmful impacts of the stereotypes surrounding the image of women. In his speech, Prof (Dr.) Sanjeev Kumar Tiwari described the incidence of female foeticide Prof(Dr.) Kavita Singh in her speech mentioned that women have progressed a lot in the society and they are not weak now. Dr. Asis Mallick mentioned about the dignity of women as reflected in Bengali Literature for a long time.The entire programme concluded with the motto of creating safe spaces for women and an equal world to honor the celebration of International Women’s Day every year.


Students’ Corner


Off the Cuff- An Inter-college Extempore Competition

To examine the spontaneity and wit of the participants, the Communication Club, Brainware University organised an Inter-college Extempore Competition titled “Off the Cuff” on March 21, 2022. With the objective of making the students articulate, fluent and erudite in English, the participants were assigned random topics to speak on. The topics included social media, online games, tourism, mental well-being and many more. The participants were judged on the basis of content, confidence, voice modulation, pronunciation and overall impact. As the competition progressed, the students slowly let go of their inhibitions and participated enthusiastically. After an intense two hours of oratory, on various topics, Prathamesh Vijay (BPA), Subham Chatterjee (BMJ) and Sayna Mondal (BBALLB) were declared 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. 

Annual Sports 2022

On March 21, 2022 Brainware family celebrated Annual Sports as a tribute to the resilience shown by our great country in the fight over COVID-19. Sports bring us together and this was clear from the fact that both faculty members and students gathered together to celebrate good health and cheer. Various sports events like Tug of War, Volleyball, Kabadi were organised to give students a chance to showcase their talent. At Brainware University we have always emphasized that for complete development both intellectual and physical growth is required. The smiles on students’ faces and the sounds of their happy laughter reminded us that it is in togetherness that most joy can be found. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the COVID warriors and our extended Brainware family for making this tiny moment of joy possible.
