Nourishing the Soul

Brainware University proudly welcomed the General Secretary and Chief Executive of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, in our campus at Barasat to deliver a session on “Nourishing the Soul” and motivate the young listeners on December 3, 2019.
The Honourable Chancellor, Mr Phalguni Mukhopadhyay, along with all the dignitaries, and a total 150 students experienced the eloquent speech of Swami Ji regarding the positive aspects of life in different ways.

Once in an article Author, Eleanor Stark noted: “Columbus discovered the soil of America, but Swami Vivekananda discovered the soul of America.” Likewise, Swami Ji kept on referring to the quotes, he added: “Every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future.”
Swami Ji preached in a whole soulful manner and mesmerized the crowd by his power of speech and facilitated in inculcating some of the ideologies which will nourish the souls of the young mind and create good humanity which is above all religion.
Swami Suvirananda Maharaj Ji invited The Chancellor to visit Belur Math and also added to conduct many more sessions like this in the near future that will help us create better human beings along with professional skills.

Armed Force Flag Day observed at Brainware University

description here Armed Forces Flag Day has been observed annually on December 7 since 1949. Now, it has become a tradition to commemorate this day as an honour to the soldiers, sailors and airmen. Prof Subrata Kumar Dey, the honourable Vice Chancellor, Dr Subhasish Banerjee, Pro Vice Chancellor and Ms Mahua Paul, Registrar hoisted the National flag together. The event was followed by singing of National Anthem by all. Anandita Das, Assistant Registrar, spoke on the significance of the Armed Force Flag Day and why we must celebrate the day, every year to remind ourselves about the sacrifices made by our armed forces.

Observation of National Pollution Control Day

description here Department of Biotechnology, Brainware University observed National Pollution Control Day day to spread awareness about the effects of pollution in current lives. We invited environmental specialist Prof. Dr. Tarit Roychowdhury, Senior faculty member, School of Environmental Studies, Jadavpur University to share his knowledge with us. Prof. Roychowdhury had accepted our invitation and delivered a lecture on ‘Groundwater arsenic & fluoride contamination in West Bengal, India.

Tata launches Solar Power Project

Tata, India’s most trusted brand, has chosen Brainware University to launch their nation-wide ‘Rooftop Solar Project’. The Project was launched at the Barasat Campus of Brainware University on 12th December 2019. Before the launch Kaushik Sanyal, Head, Business Development and Growth, briefed everyone regarding the project and talked about Barasat as one of the top potential cities and how they are privileged to launch this in a renowned institution like Brainware University. Prof Subrata Kumar Dey, the Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Brainware University thanked them for choosing Brainware University for their launch. There was an audiovisual presentation followed by the official launch of the Tata Power Solar in Barasat from Brainware University by flagging off the demo vehicle, by ther honourable Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Assistant Registrar and Mr Kaushik Sanyal, the Business Head of Tata Power Solar.

Cartoon Drawing Workshop by Debasish Deb

“I like physics, but I love cartoons.” ―Stephen Hawking

A Workshop on Cartoon Drawing has been organized on 14th of December 2019, Saturday at Brainware Salt Lake for the students of the Department of Multimedia. The Workshop was conducted by eminent Cartoonist and illustrator Mr Debasish Deb. We were privileged to provide our students with the master class of Debasish Deb. From 10 am to 1 pm the master of cartoons and illustration presented the tricks and tips of creating cartoons. During the classes he shared with us the experiences he had while creating some of his masterpieces of caricature. The students enjoyed the workshop to the fullest. The workshop concluded with the master of cartoon making and illustration providing demonstration of live caricature.

A Lecture on the History of Court

The Central Library of Brainware University along with the Department of Law organized a lecture on the journey of juridical system of Kolkata in the colonial period on November 11, 2019. The Britishers, after setting up their colony in Kolkata, appointed people to study indigenous legal system and tried to formalize and regularize the process. It was the Mayor Court, which was the first court to be established in 1727 at Kolkata long before the establishment of Supreme Court in 1774. The lecture was delivered by Biplab Kumar Chandra and attended by the students of the Department of Law.
