Future Focus- Lecture Series

“Future Focus” at Brainware was started with the intent of bridging the gap between the “Present” & “Future” of careers. Students of Now, are Professionals of Tomorrow. Students, while learning the basics inside their classrooms, need a world-view of how the industries are evolving. Future Focus intends to be that window.


Mr. Prodip Mukhopadhyay

Shri Prodip Mukhopadhyay, Managing Director, West Bengal Electronics Industry Development Corporation Limited was the speaker for the Future Focus Lecture series on August 10, 2019.

Having Technical & Management qualifications from reputed Institutions with more than 35 years of experience in Central PSU, State PSU, Corporates and Multi-National organisation in different technology areas in various capacities including National roles, SBU head in different geographies, Mr. Mukhopadhyay is working as Managing Director of Webel. He has worked with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for more than a decade on Avionics systems of Fighter Aircraft and Missile systems, and has experience in Manufacturing, Assembly & Testing of Process control system.


Mr. Nadeem Kazim

Mr. Nadeem Kazim, who is currently CHRO at TIL and is responsible for Corporate HR, IR and business strategy role at TIL, delivered a talks on the relationship between Industry and Academics on August 13, 2019.

Mr. Kazim is a Post Graduate in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations from Xavier Institute of Social Services. He started his Human Resources career with Ballarpur Industries Limited in 1986. He moved to Tata Steel in 1991 and served them for 18 years in various capacities in IR, HR and L&D roles. He served Exide Industries Limited from 2009 till 2017 and was elevated as Director-HR and was a whole-time Director on the Board of the Company. He is a member in the National Executive Board of NHRDN as Regional President- East for 2017-19. He is the Co-Chairman of CII HR &IR sub- committee of eastern region. He has delivered talks in the International, national & regional level seminars and conferences. He has authored several articles in professional journals.

Highlight of the Month


10000 steps to fit India

Brainware University organized a screening of Live-Streaming Launch of "Fit India Movement" by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 26, 2019. Soon after - A gathering of more than 500 students and 30 teaching & non-teaching staff members of Brainware University, matched footsteps to take their first 10,000 steps towards a Healthy India, on 29 August 2019.
The students & members of the Brainware fraternity assembled within the campus, to walk 10000 steps each, around Barasat - to mark their pledge of following it up in daily routine.

Boot Camp

An overall development of the students has always been one of the salient features of the University. Keeping this objective in mind, Brainware University organised a “Boot Camp” session for all the first year students in the month of August, 2019 at its Barasat campus. The event was arranged and executed in collaboration with the Placement Team. The primary objective of the camp was to acquaint the newcomers with the industry scenario and, thereby, enhance their employability. The programme included demonstrations, activities and mock interview sessions that enabled the students to be more prepared for jobs and be ready for their professional life.

Fund Raising Programme

To commemorate 109th Birth Anniversary of Mother Teresa on 26th August, 2019, Brainware University has organized a 4-day fundraising drive. The accumulated voluntary monetary contribution will be used for the benefit of the underprivileged class of society. The total amount collected by our students is Rs.17,533 and it was used to buy copies, stationery goods, fruits and chocolates to distribute among school students. Our students and faculty members visited two schools namely Panshila F.P School & Panshila Junior High School on that day. The happy faces multiplied our energy and inspired our students to continue doing these in the future as well.

Birth Anniversary of Mahanayk Uttam Kumar

I must say working with Uttam turned out to be one of the most pleasant experiences of my film-making career. I found out early on that he belonged to the breed of instinctive actors. - Satyajit Ray

One of the shining stars of the Indian cinema, Uttam Kumar continues to inspire generations even to this day with his tireless contribution in the field of art and his unforgettable competence. To celebrate the 93rd birth anniversary of this unavoidable cultural icon of India, Brainware University organised a function on September 3, 2019 at its Barasat campus. The programme commenced with a brief inauguration ceremony where the honourable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Subrata Dey paid a floral tribute to the photograph of Mahanayak.
As part of this commemoration an Acting Competition named “Ajker Uttam” was held. This was followed by a Quiz Competition named “Uttam Prashna” where students from various departments participated with great enthusiasm and vigour. It was indeed a memorable day!

One-Student One-Tree

Brainware University organized a tree plantation programme on August 17, 2019, to make the ‘one student- one tree’ campaign initiated by the HRD Ministry of India, a success. The programme started with an introductory address by our Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Subrata Kumar Dey, followed by an enlightening key-note speech by Dr. Prabir Ranjan Sur, the famous plant taxonomist and retired senior scientist, Botanical Survey of India. The students encouragingly took part in the plantation programme which happened just after the keynote address.

Cartoon Drawing Competition

On occasion of the birth anniversary of one of Bengal’s pioneering figures in art and literature, Abanindranath Tagore, the departments of Multimedia and English and Literary Studies, Brainware University, jointly organized a Cartoon Drawing competition on the 7th of August, 2019, at the Barasat campus. The participants through their creativity, innovation and imagination paid homage to the Master as they conjured up numerous awe inspiring caricatures pertaining to various social causes and activities.

Talent Hunt 2019

Encouraging the students to explore themselves and discover their potential, stepping beyond the curriculum has always been one of the primary objectives of Brainware University. It is with this aim the University organized an event, “Talent Hunt 2019”. The students of the first semester from all the departments were motivated to participate in this and showcase their talents in any sphere, be it in singing, dancing or acting. As a mark of their efforts, they would all be distributed Certificates of Participation.

Mr. Amit Kumar Bhattacharjee

Retired ITS Officer & Former Chief General Manager, BSNL -Mr. Bhattacharjee on Augusta 31, 2019, shared the real scenario of the Telecommunication industry and how the Electronics and Communication have undergone significant changes.

Mr. Argha Sengupta

Mr. Argha Sengupta, Associate Professor of Animation Cinema Department of SRFTI gave an insightful lecture into the techniques of visual communication on August 24, 2019. He emphasized on the need of communication skill, soft skill and focusing on the goal of life right from the beginning of their chosen field of career.

Dr. Subhas Chandra Mandal

Dr. Subhash Chandra Mandal, Vice President & Chairman, Regulatory Affairs Division, Indian Pharmaceutical Association presented a seminar on “Career and Opportunities for Pharmacists” to B. Pharm and D. Pharm students on August 24, 2019.

Corporate Connect-Officer of Handicrafts, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India

Brainware University has invited Mr. Banibrata Roy, Regional Director, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India and Mr.Navojit Patra, Officer of Handicrafts, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India to our campus on August 1, 2019. The officials highly appreciated our initiative towards the up-liftment of these creative hands. They were truly overwhelmed by the work of our students.

The Workshop for Multimedia Students

A Workshop on UI Development was conducted by Mr. Sourav Majhi, UI developer, Sasta Sundar.com on August 31, 2019 for the students of the Department of Multimedia. The mentor gave the students insight into UI / UX Development and the technicalities of it. The Workshop started at 2 pm and continued till 6pm.

Industry-Visit to Webguru Infosystems Pvt Ltd

In an industry-visit organised as an initiative towards #MIC (MHRD Innovation Cell), Brainware University students from different streams visited Web Guru Infosystems Pvt. Ltd. on August 31, 2019. WebGuru Infosystems is one of the leading digital service providers across the globe. This real-life exposure into business scenarios are imperative to hand-holding the aspirants who dream of becoming an entrepreneur. It provided the students with a glimpse of what can be learned through practical interaction, working methods and employment practices.
