Talktonic: ‘An Online Debate Competition’

The Communication Club of Brainware University organised ‘Talktonic: An Online Debate Competition’ on 10th October, 2020 at 3.30 PM. to decide if social media has improved human communication. Brainware Communication Club events aim to push students towards intellectual discussions and this time we held a debate competition to test their wits.

Stuck at home for months during the pandemic, we have been spending more ofour lives online than ever before. Penn Today has cited a sharp change in the way social media has been used in the COVID-19 crisis. The rise in the popularity of video calling apps clues us into the missing pieces in communication through social media.

We wanted to know what our youngsters think about their online presence and its effect on interpersonal relationships. The response was great.
30 Students from the university participated in the programme to hone their argumentative skills. “Belonging to the digital generation has made this a topic that’s both close to our heart and something that we are passionate about discussing,” said Shelina Anand, a participant from the School of Management.

Let festivity bring much needed positivity

Brainware University wishes its staff members, students and all a very auspicious Durga Puja. However, since the pandemic rages on unabated, this year’s puja would be different and has to be, for we need to protect ourselves and take apt precautionary measures against the same. It would be advisable to stay at home and be part of the virtual puja and adda group. Wear masks when you step out and avoid big gatherings. Till a reliable vaccine appears on the scene, it is good to maintain social distancing. Using sanitizers and washing hands frequently would help.
