Annual Book Exhibition

“A writer only begins a book. A reader finishes it.” —Samuel Johnson

Book fair is considered as a grand festival for those who love books. As has been organized last year too, Brainware University is once again proud to organize its “Annual Book Exhibition-Cum-Sale, 2020”, on March 3-4, 2020.
The inaugural Lighting of the Lamp ceremony was performed by the University Pro-Vice Chancellor, along with the Registrar, Director of Research and the Director, IQAC. The Librarian of the University, the Assistant Librarian of SDET-BGI, the Assistant Librarian of the departmental libraries and the Departmental Heads of the university also graced the occasion with their presence.
The Chief Guest for this event was Dr. Joydeep Chanda, Librarian, Gurudas College and Treasurer, Bengal Library Association, and Dr. Pritam Gurey, Librarian, The Asiatic Society, Kolkata.

The major participants of this year book fair were - Wiley, Sathi Banerjee, Trio Enterprises, CBS Publishers, New Aryan Publishing Co., PHI, U.N. Dhur, Himalaya Publishing House, A.B. Syndicate. A wide variety of books including textbooks, fiction, and non-fiction were offered in book stalls. The books were available in English, Bengali, as well as in Hindi language. The event was truly a success, as everyone present for the occasion acknowledged the shared and common interest in books so happily. With that response keeping in mind Brainware University would like to organize a book fair in the next year again.

Career in Legal Profession: A Roadmap Ahead

description here A seminar on Career in Legal Profession: A Roadmap Ahead was organized by the Department of Law of Brainware University on March 7, 2020. The program started with the Inauguration ceremony - Lighting of lamp and a welcome speech by Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr. Subhashis Banerjee. Justice D. K. Basu (Retd.), the Chairman of Legal Aid Services West Bengal (LASWEB) and Dr. Shambhu Prasad Chakrabarty, Head, Research Fellow and Centre Co-coordinator, Centre for Regulatory Studies Governance and Public Policy, West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS) were the speakers.

A Visit to Apollo Gleneagles Hospital

description here The C2C Department of Brainware University organised a workshop on "Role of Training & Development in Career Building" for an all-encompassing development of the students before they embark on their professional life. The session was arranged on March 7 2020 at the university campus. The Training and Development team of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd was invited to conduct the event. It was attended by the students of D. Pharm and B. Pharm.

Women’s Day Celebration

description here It is said that a woman who is empowered is a woman who can change the world. Brainware University, which has taken an oath to bring positive changes in the society by empowering the modern youth, considers it its responsibility to observe International Women’s Day on the first week of March 2020. In this regard the University has organized various programmes including Gender Sensitization, Awareness on Women’s health and hygiene and Cultural Event. Our students also participated in the rally on March 11, 2020 organized by District Legal Servicers Authority from Barasat Court premises.

How to Plan for Start-Up and Legal and Ethical Steps

description here The Institution Innovation Council (IIC) of Brainware University organised a seminar on March 14, 2020. A motivational speech on “How to Plan for Start-Up and Legal and Ethical Steps” was delivered by the guest speaker, Mr. Hitesh Kumar Kayal, a practising entrepreneur and Ph.D scholar of Brainware University in Marketing Management. The program commenced at 10:30 a.m. with the inaugural address and felicitation by Anandita Das, Convener of IIC and Assistant Registrar of Brainware University. An interactive discussion ensued with the help of demonstrations, presentations and speeches whereby the speaker emphasised on studentpreneurship

5G Network Slicing

description here With the aim of nurturing quality graduates trained in the current trends, the Department of Computational Science organized a one-day seminar on ‘5G Network Slicing’ by General Manager and Practice Head- OSS Inventory Management & Network Engineering, Ericsson Global India Pvt Ltd, ‘Mr. Shamik Halder’ on March 14 2020. Mr. Halder highlighted the difference among data communication techniques of different generation wireless communication. He also discussed 5G network setup architecture and the advantages of 5G network slicing method.

A Two-Day National Conference on Biotechnology

A two-day National Conference was organized by the Department of Biotechnology, Brainware University, Barasat on Biotechnology & Agriculture Based Technological Interventions towards Sustainable Rural Development-2020 on March 14-15, 2020. Speakers from reputed Institutions along with research scholars, were invited to share their valuable experience, ideas and suggestions on agro-biotechnological innovations, water treatment and conservation, agro-waste management and organic manuring, bio-fuel production, mushroom cultivation, fishery science, honey bee cultivation, conservation of medicinal and economically important plants, and role of women in rural development.
The programme was initiated with an inaugural speech by the Convenor Dr. Pijush Mallick, HOD, Dept. of Biotechnology. The chief guests on this day were Dr. Madhumita Mukherjee (Addl. Director of Fisheries, Govt. of West Bengal) and Dr. Amit Krishna De (Executive Secretary & Nodal Public Grievance Officer, Indian science Congress Association). Prof. Samir Ranjan Sikdar (Professor, Bose Institute), Prof. Sampa Das (Bose Institute) and Prof. Tarit Roychowdhury, (Jadavpur University) graced the occasion with their presence.

Preparation of Hand Sanitizer

The entire world is alarmed by the spread of the deadly infectious Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID - 19). In this critical situation, when there is a scarcity of hand sanitizers in the market, the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology of Brainware University has taken the initiative to prepare hand sanitizers to protect its staff and students from the Coronavirus. The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology has prepared 100 litre of hand sanitizer. The handsanitizer is being used at the entrance of the University, the hostel, the washrooms, the Canteen and the Food Court.

Students’ Seminar

An Internal Hackathon, aimed at generating new ideas, following the guidelines of MHRD’s Innovation Cell, was held in Brainware University Barasat campus on January 15, 2020. Nine teams participated in this event. Among the 9 teams, 7 teams were from software edition, and 2 teams from hardware edition.
The Central Library of Brainware University organized a Students’ Seminar on “Recent Developments in the Multiple Facets on Higher Education” on March 3-4, 2020. The Chief Guest to the occasion was Dr. Joydeep Chanda, Librarian, Gurudas College and Treasurer, Bengal Library Association, who enlightened the audience with his views and visions on the importance of a Library in our lives even today and Dr. Pritam Gurey, Librarian, The Asiatic Society, Kolkata, who had put up a brilliant presentation on Authorship and Plagiarism, one of the most relevant issues today regarding writing original research papers. Later in the day the Paper Presentations followed, in which students from the departments of Computer Science, Biotechnology, Multimedia, Allied Health Science, Law and Management participated with great zeal and enthusiasm.

Cultural Exchange

Wackytoon is a leading Animation Studio of Kolkata with a setup of extensive Pre-production, 2D Animation, 3D Animation and Post production. It is the house of the production of Chhota Bheem, Kungfu Panda movie, Mighty little Bheema and many more enthralling animation works. They are associated with all the leading animation channels providing them episodic animation series as also broadcasting in Netflix.
Parasite is a 2019 South Korean black comedy thriller film directed by Bong Joon-ho. It premiered at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival on 21 May 2019, where it became the first South Korean film to win the Palme d’Or . Among its numerous accolades, Parasite won a leading four awards at the 92nd Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay , and Best International Feature Film. SAYUL in INDIA in association with Korean Culture and Language Centre, Kolkata (KCLC) organized a special congratulatory screening of Parasite on March 12, 2020 at PVR Mani Square. They invited our University’s students and faculty members to be a part of the cultural exchange. The film provided a exemplary learning experience for our students who are learning to make films or have the interest in film making.

description here Our world has been hit hard by the Coronavirus pandemic which has seen thousands dead and millions in hospitals across the five continents. Possibly the greatest 21st century disaster till date, COVID-19 has forced work, industries and businesses to shut down and locked down families, societies and communities inside their homes. But amidst such widespread frustrations we must look to overcome these shortcomings if we are to have a shot at defeating this global phenomenon. Braiwnare University urges all to liven up their spirits and be united in our fight against this situation. We have implemented an extensive programme of Online Digital Classes to ensure that education does not stop. Similarly, the use of technology and digital mediums is one of the numerous ways by which essential work can be continued, helping in the smooth running of our societies and communities. We request everyone to be aware and act wisely. Pay heed to the governmental Lockdown norms and maintain social distancing. Together our efforts will bring a new dawn out of this darkness.
