World Cancer Day Celebration: Cancer Awareness and its Prevention

To spread awareness and aid in early diagnosis of cancer among our stakeholders, the Department of Allied Health Sciences conducted a Workshop Cancer Awareness and its Prevention on February 4, 2021 at 2 PM. World Cancer Day is celebrated on February 4 every year. In 2021 the theme is ‘I am and I Will’, a celebration of the resilience of cancer patients and healthcare workers.
The guest speakers for this event were Dr. Tapan Kumar Das (Oncologist, Barasat Cancer Research and Welfare Centre), Dr Subhranshu Chatterjee (Associate Professor, Department of Biophysics, Bose Institute),Dr. Gopeshwar Mukherjee(Dean, School of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences).
Healthy lifestyle, regular checkups and quick diagnosis emerged as the best way to reduce mortality rate.

Workshop on Business Plan

In order to help the students understand the importance of planning before establishing a business, the School of Management and Commerce arranged a Workshop on ‘Business Plan’ on February 27, 2021 at 4:30 PM.
The key speaker, Soumyajit Roy Barman (Founder of DROPGO Services Pvt Ltd) discussed business plans to identify and analyze business opportunities or how to examine the technical, economic and financial aspects of an existing business. The workshop helped students learn to draft business proposals, estimate cost of running a business, and manage investments to help them with their business careers.


Online Workshop on Nuts and Bolts of Data Science and Modeling

A workshop on Nuts and Bolts of Data Science and Modelling was organised by the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering of Brainware University and Brainware Group of Institutions on February 12, 2021. The guest speaker, Dr. Saroj Kumar Biswas, Assistant Professor of National Institute of Technology, Silchar, was invited to preside over the session. The main aim of the workshop was to make students aware of the growing opportunities in big data and the different learning resources available for them to capitalise on this trend.


3-Day Workshop on HTML, CSS and Javascript

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Brainware University, collaborated with Ardent Computech Pvt. Ltd to organise a three-day workshop on HTML, CSS and Javascript from February 2, 2021 to February 6, 2021. The intention of this workshop was to demystify coding languages and encourage more students to become programmers and contribute to the IT boom.
IT Expert Mr Argha Jati (Senior Developer, Ardent Computech Pvt. Ltd) advised students to use resources like ed-x academy and coursera to learn any one programming language to boost their cv. Through live demonstrations he proved that programming languages like any other language can be mastered through practice.


Celebration of International Mother Language Day

Ever since the 1948 agitation in erstwhile East Pakistan against the adoption of Urdu as a language by Pakistan, Bangladesh has spearheaded this campaign. Subsequently, in 1999, the UNESCO General Conference approved this initiative of Bangladesh and International Mother Language Day has been observed throughout the world since 2000. On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, Brainware University organised a recitation competition where students recited poems in their own mother tongue. The wonderful performance of students helped us appreciate the rich linguistic diversity of India.


Online Workshop on CYBER SECURITY in a Post COVID-19 World

To teach the students how to monitor networking systems and mitigate threats, the Department of Cyber Science & Technology organized a workshop on Cyber Security in a Post-Covid-19 World on February 10, 2021.
The key speaker, Belly Rachdianto, Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) and EC-Council Instructor (CEI), initiated the session by discussing the basic concepts of cyber security and the impact of COVID-19 in the fields of cyber security. Mr Rachdianto talked about penetration testing and how cyber security professionals can identify and fix system vulnerabilities for their clients.


Workshop on Significance of IPR in Research and Innovation

Research and Innovation is a great asset of any institution of higher education. To ensure that Brainware University students are aware of the laws and regulations in place to protect their intellectual property, the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, organised a special Workshop on the Significance of IPR in Research and Innovation on February 20, 2021 at 5pm. The key speaker for the event, Dr Prachi Chopra (Head of the Department, Innovation Council Delhi) emphasised the importance of having basic knowledge of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). She shared IPR resources in India for young entrepreneurs.


Online Workshop Technical Workshop on “Advanced Ethical Hacking”

Ethical Hacking is one of the most lucrative career sectors in a world that has largely done digital. The Department of Cyber Science & Technology in collaboration with Indian School of Ethical Hacking (ISOEH) had organized a Technical Workshop on “Advanced Ethical Hacking”, on February 22, 2021 to inform students about the recent developments in the field and give them an edge over the other competitors in the job market. The guest speaker of the session was renowned cybersecurity expert, Mr Gulab Kumar Mondal (Certified Ethical Hacker, ISOEH) who showed students how to perform network diagnostics tests to detect system violations through SQL-Injection.


Highlight of the Month


Brainware University celebrates Saraswati Puja

Brainware family came together to worship Saraswati, the Goddess of learning, and celebrate the power of education. Brainware University is forever thankful for the gift and privilege of guiding students to the heights of professional excellence and training them to be good citizens. For us, Saraswati Puja is an occasion to reflect on the past and reaffirm our commitment to do better in helping spread the joy of education. Students from different departments also participated in a cultural programme where through song and dance they expressed their heartfelt devotion and commitment to learning and participating in the creation of a better society for all.

An Event on Nutrition Organized by the Institute of Nursing, Brainware University

Healthy food is the key to good health. To educate our young nurses and midwives about the nutritional impact on health and the proven medicinal qualities of food, The Institute of Nursing, Brainware University organised an Event on Nutrition on February 25, 2021. Students participated in teams in the cooking competition to showcase healthy food and traditional and contemporary recipes. The overall objective was to spread awareness about the importance of nutrition and a healthy lifestyle to lead a life free from diseases.
